Filmmaker Bryan Bertino has tackled a plethora of societal woes throughout his filmography, from fear of the Other in The Strangers and the terrors of parenthood in The Monster to the downright nihilistic nature of the universe in The Dark and the Wicked. Now, with his latest feature film, Vicious, Bertino tackles the specific experience of being in your mid-30s and caught up in the debilitating panic of being a grown up, also through the lens of a strange box and one burnt out woman.
We spoke with Bertino at Fantastic Fest about tattoos in cinema, paying homage to his previous films, and his close collaboration with his star, Dakota Fanning.
