QTORY has released an animated “special music video” for the Magical Chiikawa series, which sees Japanese mascot Chiikawa and their friends undergoing magical girl-like transformations after an encounter with a falling star and getting involved in some action.
The video is set to the song “Magical Syndrome” from yama and is directed by Yuta Tanaka, who has previous magical girl credentials like Precure All-Stars F and Star Twinkle Pretty Cure: Hoshi no Uta ni Omoi wo Komete. Tanaka also has storyboard and unit direction credits.
Responsible for the character designs is Hiroyuki Saita (Revue Starlight), while the animation production studio is ENISHIYA.
Chiikawa was created by the illustrator Nagano and had humble beginnings as a character of a webcomic on X (then Twitter). It has since become a popular mascot that has inspired social media and LINE stamps, goods, and even a Doga Kobo-produced short anime, which began in 2022 and has almost 300 episodes as of 2025. Chiikawa also won the Grand Prix at the Japanese Character Awards thrice, in 2022, 2024, and 2025.
The Magical Chiikawa series of products was introduced in 2022. New creations are set to debut on October 24, 2025 JST, including pouches and clear files that resemble Trump cards and front hair clips.
