PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The 34th Philadelphia Film Festival is underway right now, and today, it was an exciting homecoming for the cast of HBO’s Task.
To celebrate the show’s season finale, the cast and creators held a special screening at the Film Society Center in Center Alicia.
Close to 450 fans packed the theater for the sold out screening.
The show is centered in Delaware County.
It has pretty much made Delco a household name all across the globe.
Becoming one of us, took a little extra trading for London born Emilia Jones, who wears a necklace that says “Delco.”
“I literally never take it off!”
About mastering the accent, Jones says: “It’s a hard accent. It’s very specific. We all just wanted to make sure we honored the people from the area.”
Fellow Brit Fabien Frankel also also feels like he’s coming home.
“I’m an Eagles fan now,” says Frankel, “an Eagles fan and a Phillies fan.”
The show is about an FBI task force, and puts Delco on full display.
Tom Pelphrey says they wouldn’t even think of screening this anywhere else.
“It’s incredible,” Pelphrey says. “You’re gonna get it for real with this crowd. You’re gonna get it right up front. You’re getting it right to your face.”
Show creator Brad Ingelsby is a Berwyn native and Villanova University alumnus. He brought his family for the finale screening.
“I’m super happy we get to do it here in Philly,” Ingelsby says, “with a crowd that obviously knows these places and these characters in this world.”
Inglebsy is also the mastermind behind the smash hit “Mare of Easttown.”
He says we would “love” a Season 2 of Task but, so far, can’t confirm anything.
The Philadelphia film festival runs through October 26th.
