Malaysian cinema chain GSC is hosting a fan screening for the 100 METERS anime film on October 25 GMT+8 at its Lalaport BBCC location.
The fan screening premiums include a random collectible ticket (five designs total), an A3 key visual poster, and two art boards drawn by the original manga’s creator Uoto.
Curiously, October 23 GMT+8 is listed as the regular release date (first revealed by the GSC Movies YouTube channel on October 14 GMT+8), although GSC says that the fan screening is happening before the official release.
100 METERS, the latest film from director Kenji Iwaisawa (On–Gaku: Our Sound, the upcoming Hina is Beautiful), premiered in Japan on September 19 JST. It was featured at Annecy 2024 as a Work-in-Progress title and at Annecy 2025 as part of the Official Selection category. Here’s the movie’s synopsis:
A distance of 100 meters can define some people’s lives.
Togashi, a track star who is born to run. As a kid, he is naturally gifted and wins every race without effort.
Komiya, a transfer student who is full of determination but lacks technique. He sprints desperately, trying to escape a harsh reality and leave everything behind.
Komiya seeks Togashi’s guidance to run faster, forging a deep bond through their training. Discovering a passion for running, Komiya pursues progress at all costs, and the two become both rivals and friends on the men’s 100-meter sprint track.
Years pass by, Togashi rises to prominence but the fear of sustaining victory gradually slows his pace. Meanwhile, Komiya has become a top-tier runner. They meet again on the track and bet it all on One Blaze of Glory.
The manga was Uoto’s (Orb: On the Movements of the Earth) first serialized work.
