EXCLUSIVE ‘Solvent’ Clip Wants You To Shut Up and Listen

Filmmaker Johannes Grenzfurthner is known for his confronting cinema. From his macro, mad scientist film Masking Threshold to his cursed audio commentary film Razzennest, Grenzfurthner is all about challenging the status quo with his work, both in form and in subject matter. With his latest film, Solvent, which he co-wrote with Benjamin Roberts, Grenzfurthner continues that work but in a more mainstream way (at least, it feels more mainstream for this director).

In his new film:

An American expat joins a team of experts searching an abandoned Austrian farmhouse for historical Nazi documents that may be hidden within it. However, when they discover a secret buried deep in the home’s bowels, the team is forced to confront an ancient, insatiable evil intent on consuming them and everything they hold dear.

In our exclusive clip, Grenzfurthner appears as an unhinged man trying to get our protagonist’s video footage…

Watch now:

In his review of the film out of Nightmares Film Festival 2024, Dread Central’s Daniel Baldwin said, “For what is perhaps his most commercial film thus far, [Solvent] still manages to go to a lot of really wild and unexpected places.”

Jon Gries, Aleksandra Cwen, Johannes Grenzfurthner, Roland Grtzer, Jasmin Hagendorfer, Ronald von den Sternen, Peter Plos, and Sky Elobar star in the bizarrely fascinating new film.

Solvent is now available on digital and VOD.
