The announcement of a new Magic Knight Rayearth anime project was made in 2024.

Magic Knight Rayearth’s premise sees three teenage girls getting summoned to the world of Cefiro/Cephiro during a trip to Tokyo Tower, where they become Magic Knights. The manga was serialized in Kodansha’s shojo magazine Nakayoshi starting in 1993 and had a follow-up titled Magic Knight Rayearth 2

Magic Knight Rayearth‘s original TV anime adaptation ran from 1994 to 1995 with 49 episodes. This past series was directed by Toshiki Hirano (Baki Hanma) with character designs from Atsuko Ishida (Shin Hakkenden). The production credit (not written with the kanji that typically indicates planning and committee-type production) listed Yomiuri TV and Tokyo Movie Shinsha (now TMS Entertainment).

Aside from the TV anime, there was also an OVA.

Kodansha USA has the manga in English and describes the premise as such:

CLAMP’s masterwork Magic Knight Rayearth—now in a new translation! This update of the manga classic forms the centerpiece to any CLAMP collection and is also a fantastic introduction to girl-powered adventure manga-perfect for fans of Sailor Moon and She-Ra.

While on a field trip to Tokyo Tower, three teenage girls cross a magical portal and are transported to another world called Cefiro. There they are summoned through the last remaining strength of the Princess Emeraude, who believes the trio will become the magic knights who will save her, as prophesied by legend.
