A main trailer and main visual have been released for the All You Need Is Kill anime film. A January 9, 2026 JST release date was also revealed.
The new trailer, beyond providing a proper look at the movie’s time-loop alien invasion scenario and the relationship between the looping warrior Rita and the systems engineer Keiji, previews the theme song “Tsuretette” by Akasaki.

Inspired by the science fiction action light novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka (illustrated by Yoshitoshi Abe), All You Need Is Kill sees Rita fighting endless battles against the creatures that have invaded Earth, as death causes her to awake on one particular morning. When Keiji tells her that “When you die, I return, too…,” they begin to cooperate, but “what awaits them is a cruel fate, they must choose the one who will survive…”
The All You Need Is Kill light novel, which was published in 2004 under Shueisha’s Super Dash Bunko label, followed the viewpoint of Keiji Kiriya, one of many regular soldiers who battle the invading Mimic aliens with the Jacket armor. After getting stuck in a time loop, he gets contacted by Rita, a formidable soldier who has the moniker of the Full Metal Bitch. The story has also inspired a manga and a Tom Cruise-starring Hollywood film titled Edge of Tomorrow.
The new anime movie has so far been screened at events like Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Fantasia International Film Festival, Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, and New York Comic Con 2025. It’s also set to appear at Animation is Film Festival, Bucheon International Animation Film Festival, Leeds International Film Festival, Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, San Sebastian Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, and Scotland Loves Anime 2025.
GKIDS has licensed the All You Need Is Kill anime for North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
