The Sakamoto Days live-action movie has received a second “super teaser” video, which shows not just young Sakamoto, but his partner Shin Asakura gunning down their opponents with flair.
Asakura is being played by Fumiya Takahashi, who was Ryuji “Yuka-chan” Ayukawa in the Blue Period live-action film. A visual for Shin was also released.

The Sakamoto Days live-action film is set to premiere during 2026’s Golden Week. It’s based on the action comedy manga by Yuto Suzuki, which sees a former legendary assassin being pulled back into criminal world and has inspired a two-cour TV anime.
September saw the announcement of Japanese talent Ren Meguro as the titular Taro Sakamoto and Yuichi Fukuda (Gintama live-action movie) as the director and writer.
Viz Media describes the manga’s premise as such:
Time has passed peacefully for Sakamoto since he left the underworld. He’s running a neighborhood store with his lovely wife and child and has gotten a bit…out of shape. But one day a figure from his past pays him a visit with an offer he can’t refuse: return to the assassin world or die!
The Sakamoto Days manga debuted in 2020 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump and has 24 volumes as of October 2025.
