The 1990 PC Engine City Hunter game is getting a modern Revival Edition release for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Steam. February 26, 2026 is its release date.
An English press release also includes Xbox Series X/S among the available platform lineup, but the Microsoft consoles are missing from the Japanese press release and trailer descriptions.
Simply titled City Hunter like the original Tsukasa Hojo manga and anime, the new release of the 2D action side-scroller will have language support for Japanese, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.
The store pages also mention the inclusion of the Nicky Larson version, Nicky Larson being the 2018 French live-action adaptation of City Hunter directed by Philippe Lacheau.
Beyond the digital release, a Collector’s Edition with a steelcase, original soundtrack CD, and pixel art acrylic stand will also be available.

City Hunter was developed by SUNSOFT and is billed as the only official City Hunter game ever made. This remaster has Red Art Games credited with the development and Western distribution and Clouded Leopard Entertainment as the publisher.
The story description for the remaster reads:
My name is Ryo Saeba, also known as City Hunter. In this line of work, I’m a well-known professional “sweeper.”
I take on all kinds of jobs, from protecting beautiful women to assassinations. In other words, I’m a cleaner who gets rid of the scum of the city. That means I live a life constantly on the edge. My partner, Kaori, is the younger sister of my deceased best friend, but she never brings in any decent jobs.
So, what kind of work is waiting for me today?
