PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Philadelphia police have identified a body found that was discovered in the trunk of a stolen vehicle in North Philadelphia.
Officials say the victim is 27-year-old Malik Tribble.
The medical examiner said Tribble has been shot multiple times and his death has been ruled a homicide.
The decomposing body was found on Tuesday after police responded to a foul odor coming from a Dodge Charger that had reportedly been parked on the 2000 block of Bambrey Street since the weekend.
A neighbor alerted authorities after noticing the smell coming from the vehicle. Officers arrived just after 9 p.m. and identified the car as stolen from Southwest Philadelphia.
According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, the Philadelphia Fire Department forced open the trunk.
Police say the car was reported stolen on Friday. One neighbor said she first noticed the car on Sunday but did not detect any odor at the time. The trunk was facing the window of another residence.
At this time, there is no known motive, and no arrests have been made.
