I am endlessly fascinated by Jennifer Lawrence. For every big tentpole role she takes on like Mystique in the X-Men universe, she turns around and does something bold and daring such as Mother!. Her comedic chops are no joke either (see No Hard Feelings). She’s an immensely talented actress who seems to embrace pushing herself with new challenges. That’s certainly on display in the teaser trailer for Lynne Ramsay’s dark exploration of postpartum depression, Die My Love.
Read the full synopsis below:
A hopeful young and loving couple move from New York to an inherited house in the country. Grace (Lawrence) tries to find identity with a new baby in the isolated environment. Yet as she begins to unravel, it’s not in weakness but imagination, strength and a stunning untamed vivacity that she discovers herself anew.
Now, watch the intriguing trailer:
I don’t know about you, but I’m intrigued. This trailer reminds me of that short film we see in Lucky McKee’s May, where a couple begins eating each other to the tune of a 50s pop song. Love is all consuming, and such. There also appears to be a bit of Zulawski’s Possession in here, in that Die My Love looks like an intense portrayal of throat-ripping rage between a couple. Not to mention, both Lawrence and Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse) seem as if they’re going absolutely feral in Ramsay’s latest. That alone should be worth the price of admission.
Die My Love also stars a stacked cast that includes LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out), Nick Nolte (Cape Fear) and Sissy Spacek (Carrie).
Go on an intense psychological journey with Die My Love when it hits theaters on November 7, 2025 from Mubi.
