The X/Twitter account for The Exhibition of The World of Shirow Masamune -“The Ghost in the Shell” and The Path of Creation recently unveiled a Ghost in the Shell tribute illustration from Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo. It’s based off that famous Akira poster where Kaneda walks towards his bike in perpendicular fashion, substituted with Major Motoko Kusanagi and a Fuchikoma.
The illustration made its proper debut at the Masamune Shirow exhibition’s current Osaka venue (Shinsaibashi PARCO), which opened its doors on September 5 JST and will run until October 5 JST.

The Exhibition of The World of Shirow Masamune -“The Ghost in the Shell” and The Path of Creation previously popped up at Tokyo from April to August. It’s described as the first large-scale Masamune exhibition.
The exhibition was first announced last May, on the same date that the existence of a new, Science SARU-produced anime adaptation of Ghost in the Shell was revealed.
Earlier this year, it was announced that a “Comprehensive Anime Series Exhibition” for Ghost in the Shell would debut in Tokyo in 2026.
