Bandai Namco Filmworks has announced a few Gundam-related events that will take place in New York in October, calling the festivities the Gundam franchise‘s “most significant expansion into New York.”
The big one is the GUNDAM Showcase – Featuring Iron-Blooded Orphans, Hathaway, and the Future of Gundam panel at New York Comic Con on October 9, with guests like Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans director Tatsuyuki Nagai, Mikazuki Augus English voice actor Kyle McCarley, Hathaway Noa English voice actor Caleb Yen, and Bandai Namco Filmworks’ Naohiro Ogata. This will “highlight the latest developments across the franchise, including the 10th anniversary of Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans and the highly anticipated upcoming release of Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway The Sorcery of Nymph Circe.”
The panel will also provide “exclusive giveaways” for attendees, including “Gundam trading cards, collectibles, posters, and GUNPLA trial kits.”
Later, there will be a two-day Gundam Film Festival at Japan Society, where Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- will be screened on the first day (October 11) while Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz Special Edition‘s 4K remaster and Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway will be shown on the next day. The festival will also include an Endless Waltz talk show with Mark Hildreth (English voice of Heero Yuy) and a Hathaway talk show with Aaron B. Phillips and Megan Shipman (English voices of Kenneth Sleg and Gigi Andalucia, respectively).
Bandai Namco Filmworks is also counting the Gundam Base Pop-Up World Tour’s New Jersey stop (a promotional video was released last week), TAMASHII NATIONS’ New York location (there will be “special displays and store-exclusive products,” as well as “special giveaways” during NYCC), and the Bandai Namco Cross Store as being a part of this New York Gundam celebration.
Beyond these, there will be a Premium Bandai presence at NYCC and a “Gundam-wrapped bus” that will tentatively show up from September 28 to October 12. The bus ride will be free on selected routes.
