4 dead in head-on collision on NJ Turnpike in Salem County

CARNEYS POINT TOWNSHIP, NJ (WPVI) — Four people are dead after a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Salem County.

It happened around 12:42 a.m. Sunday in Carneys Point Township.

According to police, 41-year-old Christopher Neff of Westminster, CO was driving a Dodge pickup truck northbound in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike.

The Dodge struck a Mazda SUV traveling southbound in a head-on collision.

Following the collision, the Mazda was struck by a freightliner that was traveling behind it.

The driver of the Mazda, identified as 19-year-old Yaakov Kilberg of Lakewood, NJ, as well as his three passengers – 18-year-old Aharon Lebovits of Lakewood, NJ; 18-year-old Shlomo Cohen of Lakewood, NJ; and 18-year-old Chaim Grossman of Fallsburg, NY – all sustained fatal injuries.

The driver of the Dodge sustained serious injuries.

The driver of the freightliner was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
