Shueisha‘s Jump J Books label will release a new Blue Box novel on December 4 JST, titled Blue Box Interlude (Ao no Hako Interlude).

One of the stories in the book will focus on a sick Kyo during the summer of his first high school year. During this time, Kyo finds himself thinking about his unrequited love as well as “a certain summer’s memories” that he shares with his friends.

There will also be an after-school story about Ayame and Kyo, as well as one about Taiki and Chinatsu’s first part-time experiences.

Blue Box Interlude is the second novel inspired by Koji Miura‘s teen romance manga, after 2024’s Blue Box Prologue. Nanao is returning as the author. The cover art wasn’t revealed at the time of writing.

Miura’s manga began as a 2020 one-shot before receiving serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2021. 22 volumes have been released as of October 2025.

A TV anime adaptation premiered in October 2024 and has a second season on the way.
