Black History Month: Rise Celestial Studios Honors Dave Chappelle
Washington D.C | Rise News

I was almost annoyed by the amount of time we were spending talking about me. I wanted to hear about him! I mean its Dave Chappelle, why the hell did he want to know anything about me? I certainly didn’t want to waste the small bit of time we had talking about my life. Most conversations are 50/50 I get it. But when you’re hanging out with a childhood hero you kind of just want to let the other guy talk forever without even blinking let alone speaking.

— CEO of Rise Celestial Studios, Ralph Celestin describes his first introduction meeting Dave.
David Khari Webber Chappelle (/ʃəˈpɛl/; born August 24, 1973) is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer and producer. With his incisive observations, he has been described as “poetically unfiltered and sociopolitically introspective, with an ability to illuminate and interrogate agonizing and poignant topics.”[3] Chappelle is the recipient of numerous accolades, including four Emmy Awards and three Grammy Awards as well as the Mark Twain Prize. He is known for his satirical comedy sketch series Chappelle’s Show (2003–2006). The series, co-written with Neal Brennan, ran until Chappelle quit the show in the middle of production of the third season. After leaving the show, Chappelle returned to performing stand-up comedy across the U.S.[4] By 2006, Chappelle was called the “comic genius of America” by Esquire[5] and, in 2013, “the best” by a Billboard writer.[6] In 2017, Rolling Stone ranked him No. 9 in their “50 Best Stand Up Comics of All Time.”[7]
