The Silent Night, Deadly Night remake is slated to hit theaters on December 12th. With the release date drawing near, the folks at Cineverse have put together a killer retro trailer that nods to the golden era of the slasher picture with film grain overlay to give the new trailer a vintage look and feel.
If you were lucky enough to see the original film at a drive-in during its all-too-brief theatrical exhibition, this preview for the upcoming remake is sure to invoke nostalgia. Check it out in the player below to see what I mean.
Rohan Campbell will play the lead character, Billy, a man with traumatic memories tied to the holidays who channels his trauma into a grisly killing spree. The storyline for the remake bears similarities to the original, but incorporates supernatural elements and adds a love interest for young Billy in Ruby Modine’s Pamela.
Mike P. Nelson is at the helm of the 2025 redux, and he also takes the sole screenwriting credit on the project.

Former Dread Central Editor-in-Chief Mary Beth McAndrews screened the film out of Fantastic Fest earlier this year. In her review, she likens it to a Hallmark Christmas movie drenched in blood. I don’t know about you, but that’s all the more motivation I need to turn out to see the film when it bows next week!
