Back in 1989, a little movie directed by Joe Dante (Gremlins, The Howling) and starring a young Tom Hanks hit screens, and it wasn’t an immediate hit. In fact, it would take a few years for it to slowly rise to where it currently stands as a comedy cult classic.
With biting humor about suburban lifestyles and keeping up with the status quo, The ‘Burbs was a commentary on what’s idyllic and what’s smoke and mirrors — Eden has its snakes.
According to Peacock, their series adaptation of that film is:”Set in present-day suburbia, The ‘Burbs follows a young couple returning to the husband’s childhood home. Their world is upended when new neighbors move in next door, bringing old secrets of the cul-de-sac to light, and new deadly threats shatter the illusion of their quiet little neighborhood.”
The series stars: Keke Palmer, Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar.
All eight episodes will drop on Peacock: Sunday, February 8, 2026.
