We’re officially less than a year away from IllFonic and Gun Interactive’s Halloween: The Video Game. So as a taste of things to come, and because it’s literally Halloween, the devs have revealed new details on the singleplayer story mode in Halloween.
While the multiplayer-driven fundamentals that IllFonic are known for are still critical components to the design philosophies of the studio, Halloween marks a turn into the realm of more traditional singleplayer story content.
The story content focuses on Michael Myers after having escaped Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, allowing players to experience the Night He Came Home “from an entirely different perspective.” Things such as how did Michael manage to escape from the sanitarium, and what actually happened at Phelps Garage are explored through these series of defined singleplayer chapters.
In addition to reliving unforgettable film moments with familiar faces, the singleplayer story mode in Halloween will also feature new locations and scenes introducing our brand new cast of Haddonfield civilians, who serve as playable characters in the game’s multiplayer component.
IllFonic aims to deliver a “compelling and authentic” Halloween singleplayer experience that “matches the meticulous cadence of the original film while empowering players to help shape the narrative.” Going even further, the team aims to encourage replayability with the singleplayer mode’s sandbox-driven gameplay. That involves multiple difficulty levels, optional objectives, secret collectibles, and even multiple endings that are determined by the actions players take throughout their journey to Haddonfield.
Halloween: The Video Game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on September 8, 2026.
