Ernest Faber is the new head coach of Dutch Eredivisie outfit Heracles Almelo and he has plans to create a pathway for the Isuzu UTE A-League.

Faber is in charge of Heracles after spending 18 months as technical director of Adelaide United in the Isuzu UTE A-League.

The Dutchman – also serving as technical director at Heracles – knows about the A-Leagues firsthand and the talent within the competition. That is why he is interested in a pathway from Australia to the Eredivisie.

“I think they’d be a better fit in the Netherlands,” Faber said, according to Voetbal Primeur.

“I can combine both roles here, and perhaps this way I can also bridge the gap between Europe and the talented Australian generation.”

PSV legend Faber will coach Heracles – home to CommBank Socceroos midfielder Ajdin Hrustic – for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

His first game in charge ended in a 1-1 draw against Telstar.
