The Skarsgård family is positively thriving right now. Bill Skarsgård, best known for his take on Pennywise the Dancing Clown, is currently chewing up the screen (pun intended) with his return to the role on HBO’s It: Welcome to Derry. While not horror-related, his father, Stellan Skarsgård, is currently the front-runner in the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award race for his role as an estranged filmmaker in Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value. And certified, loveable weirdo Alexander Skarsgård is not only gracing us with a BDSM rom-com next year (Pillon), but it’s also been announced that he’s attached to a new gothic horror movie that will have audiences howling.

Variety reports that Alexander Skarsgård will headline The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands, the English-language debut from Swedish-Costa Rican writer-director Nathalie Álvarez Mesén (Clara Sola). The official synopsis reads, “Set in 1860s Pacific Northwest, a Native American governess educated in a Christian mission school is hired to teach two daughters of a British widower.”

In a statement from director Nathalie Álvarez Mesén, she remarked, “I feel incredibly lucky to work with a cast who dive into their roles with such generosity, playfulness, and openness. Collaborating with such a talented group of people from all around the world has been a privilege,” adding, “Alexander portrays the father with a truth and volatility that ground the story. I can’t wait for the film to reach audiences.”

Alexander Skarsgård’s horror cred runs deep. Perhaps best known for his long-running role on HBO’s True Blood (a classic), he’s also appeared in a cameo in What We Do in the Shadows, been menaced by clones in Infinity Pool, and led the criminally underrated Hold the Dark. Like all the Skarsgårds, Alexander’s role will no doubt elevate The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands. Also, what a title, right?

The Wolf Will Tear Your Immaculate Hands also stars Indigenous Canadian actress Darla Contois (Little Bird), and actresses Bronte Carmichael (Star Wars: Andor) and Lily La Torre (Run Rabbit Run). Filmmaker Nathalie Álvarez Mesén previously remarked to Variety that the film tackles “How to break free from patriarchal structures and if you can decolonize your own body, if not for yourself, for the sake of future generations.”
