David Bruckner’s ‘Hellraiser’ Reboot Makes 4K UHD Debut from Germany’s Turbine Media

The Hellraiser reboot is stuck in the clutches of Hulu/Disney in the US, meaning we may never see a domestic physical media release. It came out on DVD in the UK back in 2023, but now fans can finally own it in superior quality.

The 2022 film will be released on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on December 11 via Germany’s Turbine Media, presented in 4K with Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio.

The best part? It’s region-free and playable worldwide!

Choose from a limited edition Steelbook or one of four Mediabooks with linen-style finishing and a 56-page German booklet by Tobias Hohmann. Each three-disc set is €34.99 (around $41), while a bundle with all five versions for €155.71 (around $81).

All-new special features:

  • Audio commentary by director David Bruckner
  • Audio commentary by make-up FX artists Sierra Spencer & Josh Russell
  • Such Sights: Reimagining Hellraiser – Interview with director David Bruckner and screenwriters Ben Collins & Luke Piotrowski (56 min.)
  • Creating Cenobites – Interview with Josh Russell & Sierra Spencer from Russell FX (34 min.)
  • Leviathan Tech (10 min.)

In the film, art dealer Roland Voight receives an ancient puzzle cube and opens a new dimension of horror. Six years later, ex-junkie Riley steals the mysterious box during a break-in. She has no idea that by doing so, she summons the Cenobite leader.

When her brother falls victim to the horde of bloodthirsty demons, Riley realizes that his disappearance is connected to the cube. Riley and her friends embark on a dark journey that leads to Voight’s luxury estate, where the Cenobites are waiting for new human sacrifices to slaughter.

David Bruckner (The Ritual, V/H/S) directs from a script by Ben Collins & Luke Piotrowski (The Night House, Super Dark Times), based on the horror classic by Clive Barker, who serves as a producer.

Odessa A’zion, Adam Faison, Drew Starkey, Brandon Flynn, and Aoife Hinds star with Jamie Clayton as Pinhead.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review, “Hellraiser infuses enough style and worldbuilding with a mesmerizing new Hell Priest to ensure we’re ready to sign up for whatever other sights Bruckner has to show us next.”
