The Gotham Film Awards have become somewhat of an unofficial precursor to the awards circuit that takes place through the beginning of each new year. Taking place tonight at Cipriani Wall Street in New York, the red carpet at the Gothams is also a tasty sartorial amuse-bouche for all the fashion waiting at the wings—err… clothing racks—ahead of 2026.
A particular, notable distinction of the Gothams is that their performer categories—Lead, Supporting, and Breakthrough—are not divided by gender. Nominees this year include Jessie Buckley, Ethan Hawke, Jennifer Lawrence, Josh O’Connor and Amanda Seyfried for their lead roles; Adam Sandler, Teyana Taylor, Alexander Skarsgård, and others for their supporting actor turns; and A$AP Rocky— seen in our very own 2026 Hollywood Issue—and Chase Infiniti, among others, as the year’s breakthroughs. (In case you are wondering where some of your predilected actors are, some films, including the Timothée Chalamet vehicle Marty Supreme, were not completed by this year’s submission deadline.)
The honorees at this year’s ceremony include Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfield, Miles Caton and their Sinners castmates; Noah Baumbach; Luca Guadagnino and Julia Roberts; Guillermo del Toro, Oscar Isaac, and Jacob Elordi; Tessa Thompson; Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson; and Jeremy Allen White (another of our boys!) and Scott Cooper.
What does it all mean in terms of fashion? The Gothams are a buzzy ceremony while not a main red carpet—think of those as the Golden Globes or the Oscars. But think of it as an opportunity for celebrities (and their stylists!): Those with airtight brand deals get to paint outside the lines of their contracts for these less crucial appearances. The sartorial stakes are simply lower, which means celebs can either phone it in or seize the chance to play. Scroll through to see who showed up, and what they wore at the 2025 Gotham Awards.
