Ajman’s tourism sector has reached a major milestone, with international visitors now making up more than half of all arrivals. According to officials, overseas tourists account for 52 per cent of total visitors, showing strong progress in the emirate’s long-term global tourism strategy.
The growth comes as Ajman increases its focus on attracting travellers from key international markets, including Europe, China, India and Eastern Europe. The emirate is working to position itself as a destination that offers culture, nature, wellness and authentic travel experiences.
Officials from the Department of Tourism Development, Culture and Media in Ajman say the shift reflects years of investment in marketing campaigns, infrastructure upgrades and tourism diversification plans under Ajman Vision 2030.
Ajman’s tourism approach combines heritage and modern experiences. Key attractions such as the Ajman Museum and the Heritage District remain central to its cultural identity, while beaches, eco-tourism sites, wellness resorts and waterfront developments are being expanded to attract longer stays.
Europe continues to be the strongest source of international tourists for Ajman. Visitor numbers from the region have shown steady growth, supported by partnerships with travel operators and targeted promotions in markets such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
At the same time, Ajman is expanding its reach in Eastern Europe, with roadshows and promotional campaigns in countries like Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic. These efforts aim to tap into rising outbound travel demand from the region.
Asia is also becoming increasingly important in Ajman’s tourism growth strategy. Recent promotional activities in China and India highlight the emirate’s efforts to build stronger tourism links with two of the world’s fastest-growing travel markets.
Tourism officials say the emirate’s appeal lies in its combination of accessibility and variety. Unlike larger destinations, Ajman offers a compact travel experience where visitors can explore beaches, cultural sites, nature reserves and leisure attractions within a short distance.
Recent infrastructure developments are also supporting this growth. Projects such as the expansion of Al Zorah Reserve, upgrades to the Ajman Corniche, and new hospitality developments are helping to enhance the visitor experience.
The emirate is also strengthening its position in meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) tourism, aiming to attract more business travellers alongside leisure tourists.
Performance data shows positive momentum, with increases in tourism revenue, hotel occupancy, visitor numbers and average length of stay. Officials say this indicates not only more tourists, but also longer and higher-value visits.
With global competition in tourism increasing, Ajman’s strategy is focused on creating meaningful travel experiences that encourage repeat visits and long-term destination loyalty.
The latest figures suggest Ajman is steadily moving toward becoming a more internationally recognised tourism destination, supported by its blend of culture, nature and growing global visibility.
