Geelong vice-captain Tom Stewart will miss Friday night’s crucial clash against Gold Coast after suffering a concussion in the final seconds of last Thursday’s loss to Adelaide.
Stewart copped a knock to the head as he desperately tried to keep the ball alive just as the final siren sounded.
The star defender dived at a loose ball inside Geelong’s forward 50m, knocking the ball forward and crashing head first into the turf and then sliding into Rory Laird’s leg.

But he has subsequently entered concussion protocols, which will rule him out of at least Friday night’s home match against the Suns.
The Cats then travel to Perth for a blockbuster against Fremantle next Thursday night before they have their mid-season bye.
It’s the second concussion Stewart has suffered in the space of nine months after he was knocked out in last year’s preliminary final win over Hawthorn and missed the grand final the following week.
There will also be a watch on superstar forward Jeremy Cameron after he copped a knock to the arm he broke in last year’s grand final loss.
Cameron, who only had three touches after quarter-time, is still battling nerve issues around the arm, which flared up during the match.
Meanwhile, rising star Lawson Humphries will be pushing to return after missing last week’s loss to Adelaide with an ankle injury, while ruck Mitch Edwards will also be available after he was managed.
Geelong remain in fourth place on the ladder despite suffering back-to-back defeats.
