The second day of the nine-day annual Brahmotsavams at the TTD’s Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple witnessed colourful processions of the deity on ‘Chinna Sesha Vahanam’ in the morning and ‘Hamsa Vahanam’ in the evening.
The morning procession, held between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., was marked by Vedic chants and the accompaniment of percussion and wind instruments played by the TTD’s musical troupe. Artistes from various bhajan groups presented dance ballets and Kolatam performances ahead of the procession. Devotees lined the streets to offer ‘harathi’ to the deity and seek His blessings.
In the afternoon, ‘Snapana Tirumanjanam’, the ceremonial celestial bath, was performed for the deities with milk, curd, honey, sandalwood paste and fruit juices to provide respite from the scorching summer heat.
Later in the evening, the deity was taken in a procession on ‘Hamsa Vahanam’, the celestial swan carrier, along the four Mada streets surrounding the temple.
