The Army Public School (APS) in the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre has set up a unit of Interact Club, the youngest wing of Rotary International.

Brigadier Joydeep Mukherjee, Commandant of MLIRC and Chairperson of APS MLIRC, inaugurated the club and inducted the office-bearers.

He described it as a move toward fostering community service and leadership among its students. He said he was pleased to participate in the initiative, and congratulated the newly-elected members. He emphasised that such platforms were vital for shaping the character of young citizens.

The event, held within the school premises, saw the induction of 25 students into the club.

The initiative was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Belgaum South. They said it marked a new chapter in the school’s commitment to social responsibility.

Govind Misale, President of Rotary Club Belgaum South, welcomed the chief guest and initiated the official proceedings of the charter. The student-members took the pledge to uphold the Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self’.

The new Interact Club is designed to work in tandem with the school’s existing Community Outreach programme, Vidyanjali, providing a structured direction for students to contribute to societal welfare.
